primitive trust is the coming together of two experienced musical minds. in one corner is will saul of the influential aus music empire, and in the other is tom mangan, aka tee mango, the producer who started millionhands record and clothing label. the pair met many moons ago and reconnected recently at a festival in morocco. they bonded over music, lunch and shared family travails - and as they both now live in somerset decided a little local studio collaboration seemed all but essential. between them, these consumate country gentlemen have seen plenty a musical styles come and go, so decided their best route forward would be to make music to please themselves. to that end, they holed themselves up in tee mangos woodshed studio with the following ground rules: they would make music only with the gear they had (mpc 2000, ableton, roland 101, juno, fender rhodes, various fx pedals) they would trust their instincts and go with first feelings they would embrace the joy of randomness if in doubt they would ask what would carl do? with that, you have the simple but effective mo of primitive trust. these sessions have resulted in a series of three eps to be released over the course of four months. each ep will feature 2 or 3 original tracks and one fresh remix, with unique artwork and an illustration by all-around visual auteur geoff mcfetridge. using the building blocks of house, and classic techno primitive trust can do zoned out and romantic, as much as driving and heady, but with an ease that comes from experience, years in the making. while tipping their proverbial hats to the past they also look to the future with their sound, mixing samples, wigged out synthwork and propulsive rhythms to create something honest and heartfelt that will stand the test of time

caught london sleeping kick things off with four moody electro excursions from stratowerx. edging towards the darker side of the realm the london based producer uncompromisingly serves up an ep (backed with a remix from electro stalwart sync24) of raw electro and techno cuts for the dance floor.

after previously exhibiting his remixing dexterity on two other occasions, myles sergé returns to �made of concrete� to showcase his production chops in a four track ep revealing three originals and one rework. firmly rooted in his hometown of grand rapids, a city along the legendary detroit-chicago axis, sergé stays true to the musical hallmarks that made history in the scene, sketching up a contemporary soundscape with haunting old school influences. the ep unfolds as a real treasure trove, with each track digging deeper into the realms of dubbed out electronica, while masterfully blurring the lines between house and techno.

after multiple cassette and 12� releases through kastil�s stale in 2016, it�s time for irazu�s latest addition to the series of complex techno works. �shtamm� is a package that contains four original cuts + a remix by specialist of high-end machine music regis. �refused to be found� is a soaring travel through moods and sonic landscapes which at times resonates like a helicopter flying through an inner city estate building. the aesthetic nature of the opening track is extended through �shtamm�. a multi dimensional piece of work that showcases a more submersive side of irazu s broad pallette. �last hours� is a cinematic stroke of vivid pads that sound like they were extracted from a remastered russian thriller classic. regis opens ups the b-side with a rework of �shtamm�. the off-beat machine funk of the remix leaves little of the original mix intact, yet regis has turned it into a staggering piece of ferocity. �torso� is another irazu original that sound like 7.5 minutes of vigorous rhythms and swerving perc elements.

theomatic is back with a surprise 12-inch from the labels mainman an-2. mint ep is a collection of four space-boogie jams spanning a variety of moods and tempos that have been recorded over the period of last couple of years. the lo-fi beats and pulsating kalimba-esque arpeggios on sigint create an instant feel of a sci-fi movie soundtrack, while an ultra-deep kick drum and a punchy bass on mint is a sure way to test your speaker performance. things get more chilled and pensive on the flipside with dusky downtowns brooding synthwork and rolling pads taking you on a stroll along glittering neon-lit city streets. last, but not least, amberflames take on dusky downtown is a steaming affair that uses tight compression and lush synths and to create that special euphoric dancefloor moment.
